Leadership Duties

WCA Colorado Chapter

Officer and Essential Contributor Duties 2022

 

President – Leading and managing the chapter. Prepares the agenda. Directs the meetings. Create committees as needed.  Review minutes from meetings. Meets with VP to discuss and complete the annual year in review to Nationals. Attends all relevant National meetings/events.  Creates annual letter from the President. Checks/balances all financial duties of the chapter, with the Treasurer, periodically.  Melody Epperson

 

Vice President – Be familiar with the duties of the President. Preside over chapter meetings in the absence of the President by preparing the agenda and leading the meeting. Helps the President with projects, tasks, and other duties as needed. For the year in review, assists President by taking notes year-round on all the things the chapter did and gather pictures. Periodically checks in/meets with committee heads as board point person.  Shara Oliman

For 2023, Shara Oliman and Melody Epperson will be co-presidents.

 

Secretary – Take the minutes at the Executive Committee and General Membership meetings. Submit to the President the minutes within 4 days after the meeting. Takes roll by using sign in sheet at all meetings. Send communications as needed representing the group ie: sympathy notes, etc. Maintain a log of the meeting minutes in a notebook or online file. Maintain WCACO Gmail communication. Deborah Deal-Blackwell, APR

 

Treasurer– Monitors the financial activities of the chapter. Presents a financial report to the membership at each meeting. Collect annual chapter membership dues and applications, changing in 2022. Ongoing communication with Member chair related to dues/delinquent memberships. Constant communication with the Show committee chair related to current show entry fees. Liaison with National related to dues and any chapter financial obligations. Pays all bills. Handles any necessary tax filings for the local chapter, with support.  Jean Smith

 

Membership Chair- Welcome letters to new members.  Maintains roster of email addresses of all members.  Creates a mentor program for new members with veteran (3+ years) members.  Creates and maintains a current list of members and sends changes to the website facilitator. Liaison for new member and website facilitator. Ongoing communication with Treasurer.  Jean Smith

 

Member at Large - This is a flexible role where the duty is to pick up board responsibilities as needed. These roles change as the organization evolves.  Attend all board meetings.  Vote and give opinions on all board-related issues/topics.  Work to lead, expand and organize committees. Committee Heads:

  • Diversity Committee Head: This is a dual leadership role that rotates bimonthly. Each leader is responsible for running the monthly meeting following their rotation. Both leaders will handle inquiries and troubleshooting of all correspondences related to their committee. Communicate with the board monthly. Ongoing recruiting of members for the committee. Annually, cross-check general meeting schedule with religious and cultural holidays/important dates; and communicate changes needed with the board. Ongoing evaluation of WCACO to keep in compliance with the diversity mission statement. Rosario Weston and Leslie Lefferdink 

 

  • Professional Development Committee Head: Run monthly meetings. Responsible for handling inquiries and troubleshooting all correspondences related to their committee. Communicate with the board monthly. Ongoing recruitment of members for the committee.  Investigate additional opportunities and present them to the board. Monthly check-in with subcommittees.   • Technology Learning Head/Instagram facilitator: Present Monthly/Bi-Monthly technically related topics. Maintain Instagram account (with additional contributors) **HEAD VOLUNTEER NEEDED

  • Diaspora Pod Head: Topics specific TBD **HEAD VOLUNTEER NEEDED

 

  • Show Committee Head: Run monthly meetings. Responsible for handling inquiries and troubleshooting all correspondences related to their committee. Communicate with the board monthly. Ongoing recruiting of members for the committee. Secure curators for all shows, at least two per show. Liaison with curators ongoing. Point person for galleries/venues. Assist curators with creating show prospectus. Follow up on all present show leads with the board and committee.  Carol Bivins and _________.

 

  • Mural Committee Head: Seasonal position from January – October. This is a dual leadership role that rotates bimonthly. Each leader is responsible for running the monthly meeting following their rotation.  Run monthly meetings. Reasonable for handling inquiries and troubleshooting of all correspondences related to their committee. Communicate with the board monthly. Ongoing recruiting of members for the committee. Follow up on all potential mural opportunities. Organize mural painting days, including materials needed. **COMMITTEE HEAD VOLUNTEER NEEDED

 

  • Marketing Committee Head: Run monthly meetings, as needed. Responsible for handling inquiries and troubleshooting of all correspondences related to their committee Communicate with the board monthly. Ongoing recruiting of the member of the committee. In correspondence with Website Facilitators to archive for all of our activities, shows: postcards, flyers, photos of shows etc.  Annette Coleman

  • Book Club:  a popular activity for WCACO, the monthly Book Club offers members an opportunity to read and review books about women artists and other topics including professional development. Book Club alternates monthly between selections chosen by the Colorado chapter and the National chapter.  Colorado Chapter chair: Deborah Deal-Blackwell, APR.  National liaison:  Annette Coleman.
