GOAL SETTING
In this 2 hour virtual meeting we will discuss the benefits of setting goals, identifying the steps needed to reach them, and scheduling tasks on a timeline to get them done. Participants will have time to work through this process individually and in small groups. Finally, for those who are interested in being part of an accountability group to help motivate each other beyond this session, I will encourage participants to connect before the session is over.
WCACO GOAL SETTING PRESENTATION:
GETTING ORGANIZED AND EXHIBITING
Saturday, Aug 23, 10am - noon
In this 2 hour virtual meeting, we will cover how to write an effective artist statement, what should be included in an artist bio, the differences between a CV and a resume, and ideas for creating an inventory system. We will also cover all things related to exhibiting: photographing your artwork, applying to art opportunities, pricing artwork, and preparing your artwork for display (framing, hanging hardware, labels on the back). For those who are interested in forming groups beyond this session to help edit each other's artist statements, bios, and CVs, I will encourage participants to connect before the session is over. Likewise, anyone who wants to form a social group for attending art openings and art walks together can connect as well.
ART AS A BUSINESS
Saturday, Oct 25, 10am - noon
In this 2 hour virtual session, I will talk about the business side of being an artist: taxes, trade names, copyright issues, branding, and more. Participants will have time to think about their business model and how that applies to their art practice, and apply some goal setting skills learned in the previous session. I will provide a list of further resources (many of which are free, some are not) for additional advice and workshops in Colorado. For those who are interested in forming business-minded groups beyond this session, I will encourage participants to connect before the session is over.
WCACO Professional Development Artwork Discussion Sessions

These will be opportunities for artists to meet in-person with 1-2 pieces of their artwork in a supportive environment for constructive critiques and feedback. Resources for getting un-stuck will be available to help guide discussions, if desired. Dates and locations are below. Please RSVP to Monica Hokeilen at HokeilenArt@gmail.com so she can contact participants in case of last-minute changes.
Saturday, June 28, 9:30am - 11:30am at SYNC Gallery, 931 Santa Fe Dr, Denver
Saturday, September 27, 9:30am - 11:30am at SYNC Gallery, 931 Santa Fe Dr, Denver
October 25 will be a make-up date for any of these sessions, virtual or in-person if needed.
