Artist Statement

 

Lisa Michot is a mixed-media artist who resides in Lafayette, Colorado. She received her BFA from Louisiana Tech University, her MFA from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine.

 

She exhibits her work in the Denver metro area and elsewhere, is a board member of the City of Lafayette Public Art Committee and is an artist member of the NoBo Art District, the 40 West Arts District and the Women’s Caucus for Art Colorado Chapter. She has been teaching studio art courses at Front Range Community College since 2002.

Lisa creates paper mache sculpture, public art murals and sculpture, costumes, photographs, drawings and paintings. She is best known for her paper mache sculpture technique which she developed after moving to Boulder, Colorado in 1999 and finding it perfect for the dry climate. Her aesthetic is on-the-spot, intuitive and immediate with a humorous, whimsical twist.
