Artist Statement
I paint on the backside of plexiglass, so the image is a reverse of what you will see. The final touches have to go in the first layer. Then other layers are developed until finally the finished product is what I want. The result of having it suspended gives it shadows as you walk in front of it. That’s an added, intentional element that can be very interesting, depending on the light source.
I want my work to show the fun of creation in painting and mark making. Texture and composition are more important to me than color. If the piece provokes an idea or memory in the viewer, I am very happy. If it simply provokes a positive, immediate response, I am satisfied.
