Jean Smith is currently working on wall work, hanging work, and floor work. "My influences are Alexander Calder, Jean Arp, and Carmen Herrera.
I like their clean, simple shapes leaning into the
Mid-Century Modern style."

Born in northern Indiana, just outside of Chicago, and Graduate of Milton College, WI with a BA in Art and Elementary Education; she moved to Tupper Lake, NY, in the Adirondack Mountains to be an Elementary Art Teacher. Two years later, she moved to Denver, CO, and has been there ever since, celebrating over 40 years. She was a member of CORE: New Art Space Co-Op Gallery 1986 - 2008; helped found the Colorado Chapter of WCACO in 1990; was a member of Zip 37 Co-Op Gallery 2000 - 2018; was an artist in Foolproof Gallery 2008 -09;
is currently a member of D'Art Gallery as a founding member 2019.

Jean's interest in working with clay began in 1990, and her work has evolved from low-fire food presentations, flower groupings, and fashion Accessories to mid-range gas and electric fired giant jewelry and on to abstract sculpture.
