DETAILS: The Contemporary Icons: Symbols and Signs of the Times is a national art exhibit and a collaboration between the Colorado chapter of the Women's Caucus for Art (WCA) and the Business of Art Center (BAC) in Manitou Springs, Colorado. The exhibit will explore mass culture and the manifestations of the "icon." It will celebrate the symbols and signs of the times, and give opportunity for artists to explore the modern manifestations of modern iconography. Icons are all around us: professional sports, national symbols like the statue of Liberty, celebrity faces, commercial products. Icons put into physical form a force that we cannot otherwise see. Even the computer which is so prevalent in so many lives today, is controlled by an "icon" on the screen.
