Women in Science? Science in Art? >> Wade McDaniel, Artist Timothy Schneider, Scientist
Also included is community project Petri-Dish fractals. The petri dishes are an example of the interdisciplinary connection between art and science. The cell-like containers hold miniature artworks of abstract forms and patterns, much like those found in a variety of scientific processes. Each dish is scanned into a computer. Using mathematical formulas, the images and shuffled, sliced, and diced to continually renew and create new images. Wade McDaniel - Comuter Model to run Petri-Dish Installation The beauty of generative art is building an algorythm that starts as/with a seed and generates a system that yields understanding and beauty free of the ego of the creator of the piece, in turn relenting understanding unclouded by the blurred filter of the artist-creator. The obvious counter argument to generative art is that the entire resultant system is encoded in the seed and the algorythm itself and any subsequent state is thereby tainted by the artists hand. When a parent has a child does that child transcend the parent, or is that child some subset of that parent? Fbk is created by Wade McDaniel, A.K.A. aproximation. Aproximation creates both visual and audio works he has released a CD entitled DISKNEXTNEXT. You can see and hear more of his work at aproximation.org. |
